About Aim Educational

AIM Educational Ltd is an alternative education provider based around a small enterprise farm, specialising in rare breed sheep and pigs, as well as a large variety of other animals. Our site consists of 8 acres of land in the North Warwickshire countryside, 6 unique teaching spaces, and variety of animal homes, such as sties, stables, and paddocks. We are committed to helping children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, particularly those with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, and those who are unable to engage in mainstream education due to learning, social, emotional or behavioural issues. Our goal is to empower learners to positively change negative behaviour patterns, to develop confidence, personal, social, communication and independent learning skills, as well as gaining work-related skills.

We are dedicated to helping learners acquire relevant and practical rural and land based skills and knowledge, as well as traditional academic qualifications, through creative, real and engaging learning experiences. Animals and our farm environment are instrumental to our teaching as they have the power to calm, soothe, engage, entertain and enthral, enhancing the development of social and verbal skills.

At AIM, we are aware that many learners who enter into alternative provision have suffered some form of trauma, either in their personal lives or by the demanding realities of mainstream education. AIM therefore specialises in the recovery of learners and our primary focus is upon rebuilding a learner’s confidence – with themselves, with society, and with their education.

HOW LEARNERS WORK AND OUR TEACHING SPACES

Depending upon a learner’s unique needs, AIM can offer one-on-one teaching, as well a small group teaching (with a maximum of three learners to one staff member). Whilst we are aware that the needs of some learners require them to receive their education one-on-one, AIM believes that socialisation is key to confidence building, as well as to empowering learners with the skills necessary to enter the wider world. Therefore, even if a learner requires their education to be delivered in a one-on-one format, we will ensure that they are never isolated or excluded and that they are able to embrace the opportunity of socialising with their peers should they feel ready for this and if it is safe to do so.

The AIM site consists of the rare breeds farm and requisite farmland, a fruit and vegetable allotment and wild bird feeding area, and six unique learning spaces, each of which is described below:

LEARNING AND QUALIFICATIONS

When a learner joins AIM, we will work closely with them to assess what level of learning is appropriate for their needs and a bespoke, learner-based programme will be produced for each individual. Depending upon a learner’s needs, the following stages of learning and qualifications can be offered:

RECOVERY AIM specialises in the recovery of learners that have either been damaged by the demanding realities of mainstream education or have suffered trauma. At AIM, we understand trauma to exist in many forms, from living with difficult home circumstances or being the witness or victim of distressing experiences, to challenges with mental health or SEND. Our primary focus at AIM, is therefore on rebuilding a learner’s confidence – with themselves, with society, and with their education. In order to do this, AIM focuses on encouraging a learner to achieve the AIM Award, which has bronze, silver, and gold levels. This award covers all the unique areas of education that AIM offers in increasing levels of commitment. The areas of education offered by AIM and covered by the AIM Award are as follows:
